Semi autonomous living
Our 6 apartments are set out over three floors, and cater for a range of needs and abilities.
As some of the tenants have learning difficulties, we've worked with care providers and support workers to ensure that the property has been fitted out to cater for their safety and specific needs, while retaining as much independence as is possible for the tenants.
We believe that offering a sense of independence and choice are fundamental to the rights of our tenants.
Individuality in mind
Each apartment has been fitted with induction hobs, new white goods in fully fitted kitchens, with details being tailored for the individual needs of each tenant such as anti scald taps, lockable cupboards, full bathroom and/or wet rooms, and durable flooring where appropriate.
Each bathroom is completely individual and are a mix of baths, showers and wet rooms.
Many of the apartments have spare rooms that can be utilised as guest rooms, calm spaces, or used for leisure activities, giving tenants more choices around how they want to organise and customise their living spaces.
The apartment building is situated in one of County Durham's villages and is opposite the local corner shop. A larger Co-op and local pub are a short walk away.
This thriving community includes a nearby Community Centre, which includes a gym, stage and theatre.
We firmly believe that when it comes to living arrangements, one size most definitely, does not fit all.
We work with Occupational Therapists, support workers, relatives and the tenants themselves to tailor our properties to the individual needs of tenants. In this way, we hope to create places that each of our tenants are proud to call home.
